The Technology of AMG®

An AMG® vehicle is more than just a Mercedes-Benz with a bit more power—it’s essentially a new car entirely. AMG® engineers are involved from the concept stages of each vehicle to tailor the finest performance technology to the car’s performance profile. Components throughout the vehicle—including the body—are modified or changed entirely from those in their non-AMG® counterparts.

Every AMG® vehicle is a true work of art with the latest performance features. While the exact look, feel, and feature set of each model will vary, here are some characteristics and technologies that you’ll encounter:

  • Advanced Power Delivery
    • You’ll find different selectable driving modes to adapt on the fly, as well as advanced gearboxes and a suite of racing-focused features such as dual- or multi-clutch technology.
  • AMG® RIDE CONTROL Sport Suspension
    • This suspension is able to analyze your driving conditions and adjust the damping to ensure a smooth, confident ride. Thanks to the use of lightweight materials such as aluminum and carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic, this suspension is also designed to contribute minimal weight to the vehicle.
  • AMG® Performance 4MATIC® All-Wheel Drive
    • A performance-oriented version of the 4MATIC® AWD system, this version is designed to make the most efficient use of available torque, and it’s also up to 35% lighter than other systems out there.
  • The Sound of Performance
    • Like an untamed animal, each AMG® vehicle has a distinct growl when you step on the gas, and the tone and tenor will even change with the use of different drive modes. It’s a sound that will speak to the soul of any driving enthusiast.
  • Enhanced Styling
    • All AMG® vehicles look a bit different from their non-AMG® brethren, but these adjustments aren’t merely cosmetic. Many AMG® models, for instance, are built with a wide stance that’s designed to enhance road grip; others feature a rear diffuser to manage airflow from under the car; and all feature the signature AMG® front apron, with enlarged vents that funnel more air to the engine.
