The Trey Whitfield Foundation Gala

The Trey Whitfield Foundation GalaThis past weekend on Friday, July 8th, The Trey Whitfield Foundation held its annual awards banquet in Brooklyn, New York. Us here at Mercedes-Benz of Rockville Centre were one of the sponsors of the night. The Trey Whitfield Foundation, lnc. was founded in 1989 to commemorate the life and spirit of Trey Whitfield. Trey was raised in Brooklyn, New York and was a recipient of a full scholarship to Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire in 1986. At Brewster he was very active in the theater and was a member of the baseball and basketball teams. In his junior year at Brewster, Trey led his basketball team to the New England State Championship. Just a few days before graduation, Trey was in a boating accident that took his young life. However, family, hundreds of dear friends, fans and classmates still embrace him in memory because of his total commitment to scholarship, friendship and competition.

In his memory, the Trey Whitfield Foundation will pursue his dream that everyone, regardless of ethnic background, has equal access to the educational opportunities that they need to reach their potential in life; that every child will have a helping hand and every young person will get support from someone who cares about their future.

Toward this end, the members of the Board of Trustees of the Trey Whitfield Foundation pledge their support to the development of resources, programs and opportunities to:

PROVIDE: deserving young people and adults with the necessary financial support and educational opportunities to develop their full potential as human beings;
SUPPORT: those children and adults who have made an extraordinary contribution to the quality of life within their family and their community;

ENCOURAGE: underachieving young people and adults who face challenging and often overwhelming circumstances that impact their ability to successfully negotiate the challenges they face in life;

FACILITATE: the continuing education of those young people and adults who have demonstrated sustained and genuine commitment to excellence in education;

HONOR: those young people and adults who are positive and productive citizens, whose love and spirit inspire others to achieve, and who give unselfishly to the greater good of mankind.

The members of the Board of Directors of the Trey Whitfield Foundation aspire to administrate the programs and resources of the Foundation in accordance with their genuine desire and commitment to promote, enhance and model equality and harmony.
