Loaner Vehicle FAQs & Policy Highlights — Mercedes‑Benz of Rockville Centre

  • Who is eligible to drive the loaner vehicle?
Only you or immediate family members residing in the same household, listed under your insurance policy—and aged 25 or older—are permitted to drive. Any additional drivers covered by your policy, must present a valid driver’s license.

  • What is required to reserve a loaner vehicle?
A valid appointment is needed. Please present a valid credit card (no debit cards permitted) matching the name on a valid driver’s license (no photocopies or phone photos). You must also provide your insurance provider’s name and policy number.

  • Is there a fee for the loaner vehicle?
The vehicle is complimentary. A $500 pre-authorization hold will be placed on your card and released within 24 hours after return. Charges—such as damage, late fees, cleaning, or insurance deductibles—may apply and will be deducted as needed.

  • Who is responsible in the event of an accident?
You are. Your insurance takes primary responsibility. If Mercedes‑Benz of Rockville Centre must use its policy, you’re responsible for a $5,000 deductible. This includes coverage for tires, wheels, or windshields. You must inspect and note any pre-existing damage with the loaner agent before signing the contract; no staff member may waive your responsibilities.

  • What happens if I receive a summons while using the loaner?
You are responsible for all tolls, traffic violations, fees, impound or boot charges, and related penalties. Do not register your EZ-Pass with the loaner’s license plate. If your card on file declines, your loaner privileges may be suspended, and unpaid charges could be referred to collections or court.

  • Are smoking or pets allowed in the loaner vehicle?
Absolutely not. Any smoking, vaping, or pet-related soiling incurs an immediate $125 cleaning fee. Confirm vehicle condition with the contract—you must sign an agreement acknowledging this before driving off.

  • What are the mileage and driving area limits?
The loaner may only be driven within the Long Island area, up to 100 miles per day. Excess miles are billed at $0.25 per mile. Loaners must be returned with the same fuel level they had when picked up and must not exceed 6,000 total miles. If you need exceptions, contact your service advisor promptly.

  • When is the loaner due back?
Return it the same day you’re notified your vehicle is ready (we close at 6 PM Monday-Friday and 4 PM on Saturdays for your convenience), or by the next morning (opening at 7 AM Monday – Saturday). A $65 per day late fee applies if the return is delayed. Please remove all personal items—Mercedes‑Benz of Rockville Centre is not liable for belongings left behind.

  • Is the loaner vehicle tracked?
Yes. We employ GPS tracking and reserve the right to locate and repossess the vehicle if it’s not returned as agreed. You may be liable for any associated costs.

  • Can I request a specific vehicle model?
Unfortunately, no. Our fleet rotates frequently, and we cannot guarantee a particular vehicle type.

  • What should I do in case of an accident?
Your safety is paramount—call the police immediately to file a report. Then notify Mercedes‑Benz of Rockville Centre at 516-766-2585. If possible, take photos at the scene and gather insurance details for all involved parties.

  • Can I use the vehicle for rideshare or delivery services?
No. These uses are not covered under the insurance policy. Any resulting personal liability will be your responsibility. Please consult your insurance provider for coverage specifics.

If you decline any of these policies, we may provide alternate transportation, subject to their qualifications. Mercedes‑Benz of Rockville Centre may approve or deny loaner requests at its discretion.
